Terms of use · version 2026-10-18
Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and Ground To Solo (“we”, “us”) about using Ground to Solo: the website, its guide, its quizzes and its Flying Sim simulator (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. The service
Ground to Solo is a free educational resource that explains paragliding theory and lets you rehearse procedures in a simplified simulator. It is provided for general information and personal study. It is not a flight school, not a training organisation, and not affiliated with or endorsed by any national association, governing body, school or manufacturer named in it (including USHPA, BHPA, APPI, FAI or EASA). Names of organisations are used only to describe and compare their published material.
2. Paragliding risks and your responsibility
- Paragliding and ground handling are hazardous activities. Even with training, equipment, weather and terrain can cause accidents leading to injury or death.
- Nothing in the service is flight instruction, professional advice or a substitute for training with a qualified instructor at a recognised school, for a properly maintained and certified wing, harness and reserve, or for your own judgement on the day.
- Your instructor and the rules of your school and country decide what you may do and when, including your first solo flight. Where the service differs from them, follow them.
- First-aid and emergency content is general information. In an emergency, call your local emergency number, and get proper first-aid training.
- You use the service, and any knowledge you take from it, at your own risk and responsibility.
3. Accuracy, rules and standards
We work hard to keep the content accurate and cite our sources, but paragliding techniques, equipment, airspace and aviation rules differ between countries, schools and training bodies and change over time. Summaries of rules and standards are simplified and may be out of date or not apply where you fly. Always check the current official documents of your national authority and training body, and your instructor’s guidance. We do not guarantee that the content is complete, current or error-free. If you find an error, please tell us.
4. The simulator
Flying Sim is a simplified computer model. It cannot reproduce how a real wing feels or behaves, and real air is more complex than any model. Scores, readiness indicators and debriefs describe your performance in the simulator only. They are not an assessment of your ability to fly, and do not mean you are ready for any flight. Take breaks; stop if you feel unwell (for example motion sickness or eye strain).
5. The certificate of completion
The certificate records that the account holder completed the online lessons and simulator missions in Ground to Solo, based on progress recorded by their own browser. It is not a pilot rating, licence, qualification, or proof of skill or training, it is not issued by any authority or school, and it does not qualify anyone to fly. You may share it, but you must not present it as a licence, a rating or a qualification, alter its warning, or put a name on it other than your own. We may withdraw a certificate obtained by misuse.
6. Accounts and age
- You sign in with a Google account. Keep it secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. One account per person.
- You must be 16 or older, or 13 to 15 with the permission of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms for you, where the law where you live allows it. The service is not for children under 13.
- You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why where the law requires.
- How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy policy.
7. Acceptable use
Do not: break the law using the service; try to access other people’s accounts or data, or our systems beyond the normal interface; interfere with security features, App Check or rate limits; use bots or scrapers, or copy the content wholesale; reverse engineer the service except where the law allows it; or use it to mislead others about your training or qualifications.
8. Content, licences and trademarks
- The text, illustrations, simulator and software of Ground to Solo belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them for your own non-commercial study. Instructors may show the content to their students in a lesson, with credit; anything else needs our written permission.
- Cited sources remain the property of their owners; we quote only short extracts for comment and education, with attribution.
- Open-source software and fonts in the service are used under their own licences, listed in Third-party licences.
- Google, LinkedIn, X, Facebook and the names of organisations and manufacturers are trademarks of their owners, used only to refer to them.
- If you send us feedback, we may use it freely without obligation to you.
- Reviews. Reviews must be your own honest experience, must not include other people’s personal information, and must not be offensive or unlawful. If you allow us to quote your review, you give us a free, non-exclusive licence to show it, with the name you chose, on the Ground to Solo website and its social media, until you withdraw that permission. We may edit a quote for length (never to change its meaning) and decline to show reviews that break these rules. We do not pay or reward people for reviews.
9. Third-party services
Signing in uses Google; hosting, storage and security use Google Firebase and Google Cloud; sharing your certificate takes you to LinkedIn, X or Facebook. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them. Links to other websites are for convenience; we do not control or endorse them.
10. Our liability
- The service is free and provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend or end the service at any time, and will give reasonable notice where we can so you can export your progress.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any injury, death, loss or damage arising from paragliding or any other activity you undertake, or from your reliance on the service, and our total liability to you for anything relating to the service is limited to 100 euros (or the equivalent in your currency).
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights as a consumer where you live (for example under UK, EU or Australian consumer law). Some places do not allow certain exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
- To the extent the law allows, you agree to compensate us for claims by third parties caused by your breach of these terms or misuse of the service (for example presenting the certificate as a licence).
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Please contact us first: most problems can be solved quickly.
12. General
- Changes. We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
- If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them to a new operator of the service who takes on our obligations. These terms and the Privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
